From education to employment

New e-learning Champion at e-skills UK

e-skills UK announces the appointment of Laura Overton as the e-skills UK e-learning champion, working across the Skills for Business Network.

e-skills UK is working in partnership with the DfES, the LSC and Becta to develop and deliver an action plan for work-based e-learning. The challenge to be addressed, as an extension of the National Learning Network activities into the workplace and the workforce development sector, is to demonstrate to employers and employer bodies how e-learning, in its broadest sense, can contribute to the development of skills and improved business performance. The e-skills UK e-learning champion will drive this action plan forward, through increasing the collaboration between sector bodies and other stakeholders, and building on sector-based provision through the Skills for Business Network.

Laura has over 17 years experience in the e-learning and distance learning industry, helping early adopters of workplace e-learning develop sustainable e-learning strategies. Laura has taken a leading role with e-Learning initiatives associated with the European Commission and contributed to e-learning recommendations for the UKs Learning and Skills Council (LSC) as a member of the Distributed and Electronic Learning Group, the advisory board to the LSC.
