Bright sparks Connor and Tom to represent Cardiff and Vale College in Skills Competition Wales Electrical contest

Twin brothers Connor and Tom Lewis are through to the finals of Skills Competition Wales in the Electrical category.

Tom is also one of the top three Electrical apprentices in the country, having recently come third in Sparks UK Electrical Apprentice of the Year 2017. Tom won a tool bag full of kit.

“I came third in the UK, which was a really good experience,” the 19-year-old from Maesteg said. “I didn’t expect to do well so I was glad to finish in third place, and it’s exciting to be in the finals of Skills Competition Wales as well.”

Tom and his brother Connor, also 19 and living in Maesteg, will now go through to the final of Skills Competition Wales in June, having been placed in the top three in the Electrical heats.

“We were timed and tested in the heats,” Connor said. “I’m looking forward to taking part in the finals – I’m very excited about it.”
