From education to employment

DfE provide info on what employers need to do to become an apprenticeship training provider.

DfE Employer Provider Guide

With the Apprenticeship Levy going live in two months time the Department for Education (DfE) has launched an Employer Provider Guide. The new guide for employers explains the benefits of becoming a training provider, the step by step process to become a training provider and details of what Apprenticeship Levy money can be spent on.

There are three routes for employers to become training providers:

• As an employer-provider who delivers some, or all, of the off–the-job training element of an apprenticeship to their own staff.

• As a provider who delivers training to other employers’ staff, as well as their own staff.

• As a sub-contractor to a main provider.

If an employer does not wish to provide any training to their apprentices, they do not need to become an employer-provider as they will be able to select a provider to deliver the apprenticeship training on their behalf.
