EAL’s Julia Chippendale discusses IAG

Julia Chippendale, managing director of the awarding organisation EAL, talks to FE News about the Industry Apprentice Council (IAC), which was founded by the group in 2013 to give apprentices a unified voice.

She discusses a survey of industry apprentices conducted by the IAC, which showed 45% of respondents believe they received inadequate or no career advice in school about pursing an apprenticeship. Some 56% said they had chosen an apprenticeship using their own initiative, and 98% were pleased to have chosen the route.

Chippendale discusses the recently launched ‘closer to schools’ pledge by the IAC, which seeks to go into schools directly to offer advice and guidance as a complimentary service .
