Spring Flower Show Success for @Shipley_College

The skills and enthusiasm of Shipley College Floristry students were once again rewarded at the renowned Harrogate Spring Flower Show in April. The spring show hosts Britain’s biggest exhibition of flower arranging and floristry including major installations and around 150 individual works of floral art.

Their group entry in the colleges’ section saw them being awarded Silver for their ‘Grand Designs’ exhibit which was designed as a contemporary dressing room with matching accessories.

The stunning sophisticated arrangement exhibited in the Floral Art Marquee included a bodice, handbags and shoes. The vibrant pink and orange of the flowers was created using Vanda Orchid, Cala Lily, Ornithogalum, Jatropha Firecrack, Dianthus Green Trick, Bupleurum and Hypericum. Umberella Fern, Lily Grass, China Grass, Flexi Glass and Snake Grass were used for the foliage.

Our part-time Level 3 Floristry students also had fantastic success in their individual entries which Laura Pannitt winning 1st place taking ‘The Passion Flowers Trophy’ in the ‘Spring Time’ category for her hand-tied bouquet. In the ‘Cloud 9’ category – a display for a reception desk, Carol Brown also won 1st place and Mandy Lindley came in 2nd.

Shipley College offers a range of Floristry and flower arranging courses including BTEC diplomas, floristry workshops and floristry for weddings and Christmas.
