Summer conference / CPD event ‘Embracing Change’

  • Ann Gravells and Hilary Read are pleased to announce their first summer full day conference/CPD event aimed at practitioners, trainers and assessors in the further education (FE) and skills sector.

    The conference is themed around ‘embracing change’, and will include key speakers, exhibits and workshops.

    Topics for discussion include: Apprenticeships, Functional Skills, Using technology, Technical qualifications, British Values, Prevent Duty, Professional Standards, The Sainsbury Report, Post 16 Skills Plan & more – and how these impact upon the role of the FE and skills practitioner.

    All those attending will receive a free, signed copy of Hilary and Ann’s book: The best vocational trainer’s guide (value £35).

    Aim

    Delegates will have the opportunity to:

    gain information regarding changes (from key speakers and as part of discussion groups) which are taking place in the FE and skills sector

    put questions to a panel of experts

    take part in a workshop by Ann and Hilary regarding the issues facing you as a practitioner, and how to embrace change within your practice​

    network with others and meet like minded people

    talk to staff from various exhibitors e.g. text book publishers, awarding organisations, and professional associations

    drink as many soft drinks (hot and cold) as you wish, eat lots of biscuits, sweets and fruit (if you have the urge), have a nice buffet lunch (veggie option included), and have wifi access – all included in the price

    purchase signed text books by Ann and Hilary at a discounted price, receive a free copy of Ann and Hilary’s book for vocational trainers

    Jonathan White, author of Digital Literacy Skills, and librarian at Derby College – Using free/low cost technologies in teaching and learning, and embracing the principles of digital literacy

    11.15 – 12.15

    Key speakers:

    Naomi Nicholson, Ofqual Director of Strategic Relationships for Vocational Qualifications – Functional Skills

    David Russell, CEO The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) – Supporting practitioners with aspects such as the Professional Standards, Prevent Duty, and The Post 16 Skills Plan

    If, for any reason, you cannot attend the conference after making your booking, we will be happy for you to transfer your ticket to someone else. Unfortunately, refunds are not offered.

    If you wish to pay via invoice rather than EventBrite – please e-mail [email protected]. Invoices can be paid by cheque, BACS transfer or PayPal but must be paid prior to the event, and within 14 days of issue (whichever is the soonest).

    Ann Gravells Ltd is not registered for VAT, therefore the ticket price is exempt.

    Parking is available close by at many of the Leeds city centre car parks, for example, the Merrion Centre,The Light, and St John’s. Disabled parking is at the front of the centre. All rooms in the venue are on the ground floor.

    The centre is about ten minutes walk from Leeds train station and close to bus stops.

    A veggie option will automatically be included as part of the buffet, however, please e-mail us if you have a particular dietry requirement.

    There are many hotels in Leeds city centre if you wish to stay over.
