Visual Arts Open Day

Join City Lit for the annual City Lit Visual Arts open day. Throughout the day, at the HQ in Covent Garden, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the full range and variety of our art and design subjects on offer.

Talks and Presentations:
10:30-10.50 Welcome to The City Lit Art School – Jayne Kay, Head of Visual Arts.
11:15-11:45 /14:15-14:45 Find out about: Art and Design Foundation Diploma – Jera May, Course Leader.
12:00-13:00 Beyond the White Cubes – students from the Developing Art Practice course talk about their work and exhibition in the City Lit gallery.
14:00-16:00 Open Crit with students from Developing Art Practice.
13:15-14:00 Creative Curiosities: What is your project? – Ian Tucknott, Contemporary Practice Personal Project, Course Leader.

Drop-in Practical Workshops:
10:45-12:45 / 14:00-15:30 Illustrating Children’s Books: It’s time to celebrate! Join our animal party – a workshop for adults wishing to explore children’s book illustration.
11:00 -15:00 – an interactive printmaking collaboration led by the students of Advanced Printmaking: Experimentation and Development.
11:00-12:45 / 14:00-15.30 Animation and Experimental Film.
11:15-12:45 Bookbinding: Fans and Folds, making books without glue.
11:15-12:45 / 13:30-15:15 The Pre-Foundation Experience.
12:00-14:30 Jewellery Making and Mindfulness.
13:00 -15:30 No one is too small to make a difference – typography workshop.

These are free to join and materials are provided but some workshops have limited spaces, so availability is limited.
