Level 3 Certificate in Education & Training

January 21, 2027 @ 10:00 am - March 25, 2027 @ 1:00 pm

This Level 4 teaching qualification is designed to develop delegates practical teaching skills helping them to become effective teachers in a range of Post-16 contexts. We anticipate that delegates will already be working in post-16 education as a teacher/ trainer/ assessor or coach.  Delegates may have a strong vocational background and will have moved into teaching as a secondary career.

Practice requirement:  There is a requirement for a minimum of 30 hours of professional practice for this qualification

Performance requirement:  As part of the course you will complete 6 written assignments and a portfolio of evidence.  The portfolio will require you to complete a minimum of 3 different observed taught sessions, each observation MUST be 30 minutes or longer, and the total combined time of all observations must be longer than 3 hours.  You can to do more than 3 observations if you do not meet all criteria in the 3 observations or the required 3 hours, but the minimum number of observations is 3.  These observations should be spread across the course to allow for incorporation of feedback/ development targets in the subsequent observations.  These observations will be carried out by a suitably qualified mentor that you will need to be able to provide before joining the course.  All observations must be in person.

Mentor requirements:  Your suitably qualified mentor must be able to demonstrate current evidence of CPD in assessment and:

  • Hold a teaching/training qualification at level 4 or above.
  • Hold an assessor qualification at level 3 or above which includes assessment in the workplace
