Air Quality Team Leader

Job Title: MCERTS Level 2 Stack Tester
Location: Birmingham
Salary: 28,000 – 40,000 (DOE)

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, renowned for providing high-quality testing, inspection, monitoring, and consultancy services across the UK. Due to continued growth, our client is now looking to appoint an experienced MCERTS Level 2 Stack Tester to join their expanding Stack Emissions Monitoring team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected organisation where you will play a key role in delivering emissions monitoring services, helping clients manage environmental performance and regulatory compliance.

The Role:

You will be responsible for monitoring emissions from chimney stacks at industrial and commercial sites across the UK and Europe. The role involves travel, hands-on testing procedures, data analysis, and contributing to high-standard technical reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct stack emissions monitoring in accordance with MCERTS standards.

• Produce accurate, clear, and concise technical reports.

• Maintain strong communication with clients during and after site visits.

• Carry out laboratory and analytical work associated with emissions monitoring.

• Work effectively within a team environment to ensure project delivery.

Essential Requirements:

• MCERTS Level 2 Stack Testing Qualification, with a minimum of 2 years practical experience.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

• GCSEs in English & Maths.

• Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Willingness to travel and stay away from home for periods of time.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and comfortable working at heights up to 200 feet.

• Experience in report writing, client liaison, and emissions monitoring techniques.

Desirable:

• Degree, Certificate, or Further Education qualification in Environmental Science or related field.

• Technical endorsements (achieved or in progress).
