Recruitment agencies work to tackle construction and engineering skills shortage in #STEM education

Protocol and Teaching Force, two leading education and training recruitment agencies based in Nottingham are hosting another of their popular education recruitment events at their head offices in The Point in West Bridgford Nottingham on the 14th August from 10am – 4pm.

This year, while the event is open to anyone who works or is looking to work in education, the focus is on helping bridge the construction and engineering skills shortage; and the firm’s specialist consultants will be on hand to take industry professionals through the various options of progressing careers in education and training.

          Joanna Jagiello, Head of Marketing and Engagement said; “We work with teachers, support workers, trainers, assessors, lecturers, tutors and managers amongst many other professionals in education, but we’re seeing more and more clients look towards industry to find people with real-life skills and experience. This isn’t just limited to construction and engineering and motor vehicle trades but also finance, retail and health and social care – where we see the demand for occupational competency”

Traditionally, a career in education has always meant you needed a teaching qualification but Protocol’s education recruitment specialists say this is not necessarily the case anymore, especially in light of the government’s apprenticeship targets and the introduction of the End-Point Assessment, where an Apprentice is assessed by an independent person.

          Joanna Jagiello added: “Candidates are often surprised to hear that they don’t necessarily need to have teaching qualifications to work in education. While traditional roles in primary and secondary teaching do, Further Education is far more open, often providing the required qualification while working. End-Point Assessment is a particularly good entry point for experienced professionals looking to get into education, as recent on the job experience coupled with an assessing qualification far outweighs the need for education experience itself”.

The event is being co-hosted by Protocol’s schools and academies arm, Teaching Force, and is perfect for qualified teachers, lecturers, trainers and assessors, as well as people wanting to find out how they can get into education. The event is free to attend and offers the opportunity to meet with representatives from the leading recruitment group – allowing attendees to find out more about the opportunities across the East Midlands and beyond.

The event will run as a free drop-in session, but booking is recommended, and education professionals will have the opportunity to access free job hunting and CV support, one to one advice from education and training recruitment specialists and of course apply for current job openings.
