Bryan Gray re-appointed for second term for £348M Development Agency

Bryan Gray, the current Chair of North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA), has been reappointed for a second term, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt announced today.

Bryan Gray first took up post as Chair of NWDA on 1 April 2002. His reappointment will take effect on 1 April 2005 and will run until 13 December 2008. His time commitment and salary will remain unchanged at £74,781 (£76,875 with effect from 1 April 2005, following annual revalorisation) for a time commitment of 3 days per week. Bryan is a member of the National Learning and Skills Council and is currently Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lancaster. He has a considerable amount of experience working in industry, through his time at Baxi Technologies, where he is currently Chairman, and at ICI. He has been recongnised for his commitment to the region when he was awarded an MBE in 2001, for services to regeneration in Preston.

The North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA) provides strategic leadership, programmes and funding to ensure the sustainable economic development and regeneration of one of the UKs largest regions. The Agency provides support for a variety of projects and initiatives such as the Lowry Centre and Imperial War Museum North, both of which are helping to restore once-redundant dock areas by way of increased tourism and by providing much needed employment opportunities.

Government funding for NWDAs 2005-06 budget is £384m.
