Embedding Maths into the curriculum

January 23 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

For apprentices to gain the level of competency needed to be confident with maths it is important to raise awareness of maths in the wider curriculum; embedding has been on the agenda for a long time but the change to standards has brought opportunities to add greater value to apprentices to help them thrive. This webinar will consider the benefits of embedding maths effectively and supporting the wider development of apprentice’s in their learning journey. Delegates will learn: • The real value of maths • How to find the maths in the curriculum • Bringing maths to life in delivery • Next steps This webinar is ideal for: Apprenticeship training providers that have recognised that their approach does not fully integrate maths into the curriculum and is striving to achieve recognised levels of good practice.

Christine has been involved directly with apprenticeships since 2003 and is passionate about ensuring that maths and English is effectively integrated and value recognised within all training. In 2017 she changed direction, to champion maths and English development. Involved with Functional Skills since the pilot stages in 2007 and supporting the transition from Key Skills to Functional Skills within a range of Apprenticeship and 14+ provision, including staff training, has provided her with a solid understanding of the challenges and successful approaches for the delivery of effective programmes. As an Associate Trainer with the Functional Skills Support Programme in 2008 she delivered a full range of transitional CPPD to providers across all sectors. She also supported providers to plan for, and manage the transition from the legacy to current Functional Skills in maths and English.
