Looking to boost your pay packet? Education salaries are on the rise…

According to the latest data from CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job site, salaries for education roles across the UK saw an increase of 2.6% in September, when compared with data from the same period in 2017.

In fact, the average salary increased from £28,290 in September 2017, to £29,030 in September 2018. As such, the education sector made its way on to the list of the top 10 industries for pay growth right now:

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, comments on the findings:

Pay is on the up and is increasing in line with the national inflation rate, meaning many education professionals may be finding themselves in a better financial position than they were this time last year.

“The jump in salaries could be a direct result of ongoing skills shortages, which are forcing employers in the sector to pull out all the stops, in order to attract and secure talented new employees. However, not all schools or colleges have the budgets to follow this trend.

“With recent reports that teachers are quitting the profession at the fastest rates since records began, it’s clear that the government needs to consider what can be done to improve job satisfaction and ultimately, retention, in the education sector.”

In addition to salaries rising, the data from CV-Library found that job vacancies in the education sector also saw an increase in September, jumping by 3.3% when comparing year-on-year data.

Biggins concludes: “Employers within the sector are continuing to march on with their hiring efforts and it’s clear that there are plenty of career opportunities available across the education sector right now. If you’re looking to take the next exciting step in your career or to secure yourself a pay rise – now could be the perfect time!”
