Course Feedback:

‘I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The pace of the sessions, opportunities to ask questions and participate, the engaging way it was delivered, expert knowledge, array of activities, peer to peer support and networking – absolutely fantastic all round! It was without doubt one of the best training events I have ever attended.’
– A.Fowkes, Pareto Law

“I have been in the apprenticeship sector for too long and attended numerous Ofsted related training events over the years and this stands out as the best. The combination of the training being delivered by a team of experts in the subject along with the activities we undertook to support learning and understanding was brilliant. I would highly recommend this training to any Ofsted Nominee irrespective of previous training and experience.”
– S.Dickinson, Virgin Active

‘I’ve taken so much from the bootcamp. It was a fantastic refresher and an opportunity to lift the priority focus out of the usual dayto- day work. The bootcamp prompted a major revision to the structure and format of the SAR and QIP. The first activity we have implemented is to explore the ‘comfy slippers’ and look at our “best learners” and our “best employers” to test them. I completed the equivalent training with Kerry and Peter 12 years ago. It was great to see how the format has strengthened and evolved. I found it really insightful. The challenging questions posed by the FIN team stand you in great stead for the scrutiny of an inspection. The best part of the training was… Networking with the other Quality professionals from other providers – a fresh perspective and different points of view to explore. It challenges our thinking when we are so buried in our own provision.’
– Karen Palfreyman, Umbrella Training

Facilitators

Kerry Boffey is the CEO of the Adult Learning Improvement Network (ALIN) and Fellowship of Inspection Nominees (FIN). She has held senior leadership positions in Independent Training Providers and has carried out interim leadership roles for Colleges and Specialist Colleges. As a former Ofsted inspector, with 18 years’ experience, Kerry has worked across the UK, and on international projects, managing teams and providers through very challenging inspections due to their complexity. This in-depth understanding of inspection, alongside concerns for providers’ lack of effective preparation, was the driver behind founding the Fellowship of Inspection Nominees (FIN) in 2017. Kerry is a well-respected trainer and facilitator, is passionate about developing senior leadership teams, and provides external governance for numerous further education providers; championing quality that focuses on the impact on learners.

Peter Nelson

Peter brings a wealth of experience from various roles in the further education and skills sector, including teaching, senior leadership, inspection, and management. He has worked as a lecturer and held senior positions in multiple colleges. As one of His Majesty’s Inspectors with Ofsted, he inspected across the FE spectrum and played various management and project roles. This included overseeing inspector learning and development and advising on policy, quality, and training. He also led initiatives such as inspectorate mergers and the introduction of level 6 and 7 inspection activities. Now working as a consultant, Peter provides guidance on quality improvement, management, and governor training in the FE sector. He holds an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He also offers coaching and mentoring to managers and senior leaders.
