Middlesbrough College Esports Team Crowned National Champions

Middlesbrough College is celebrating a major national success after its Esports team, MC Hammers, claimed victory in the British Esports Winter Cup – taking the top spot in Apex Legends after competing against nearly 40 teams from across the country.

The squad delivered a standout performance throughout the tournament, showcasing exceptional teamwork, strategic thinking and composure under pressure. Their win places the College firmly on the national Esports map and highlights the growing quality and ambition of its Digital and Esports provision.

Mark Whitehead, Esports Team Manager at Middlesbrough College, said:

“This is an incredible achievement for our students. To compete against so many strong teams nationwide and come out on top is a testament to the dedication, skill and professionalism of our players. We are immensely proud of them.”

Team Captain Kye Parker highlighted the determination behind the win, saying:

“We worked really hard in the group stages to gain a points lead. The pressure of the final was quite real, but we worked well together as a team to succeed.”

Fellow team member Dan Visers, added:

“It was a fun experience overall and playing against other colleges was really exciting. We reached the final last year, and we feel that experience helped us be better and more prepared this year.”
