From education to employment

Imperial College Full-Time MBA redesigned to focus on flexibility and greater access to STEM fields

@ImperialCollege Business School will upgrade its Full-Time MBA programme for the 2022 cohort, with a greater emphasis on flexibility and personalisation to help students tailor their studies to help them succeed in their future careers.

Imperial has personalised the programme further for candidates through a reduction in the number of core modules and the introduction of new “Flexcore Modules”, giving students the opportunity to deep dive into specialist areas that align with their chosen career path and interests such as macroeconomics, advanced business analytics and design thinking, supported by the work of Imperial’s research centres such as the Imperial Business Design Studio.

For the first time, participants can also choose to study either the general management pathway, or opt for a specialism in one of three areas that align to the skills with the highest demand from employers that make a difference at the intersection of business and technology, – analytics, entrepreneurship or finance.

Markus Perkmann, Academic Director of the Full-Time MBA programme, says,

“We have designed the new Imperial Full-Time MBA so our candidates can lay the basis for a successful and meaningful career. The programme places a major focus on purposeful leadership, and the skills of “getting things done” that are so valued by top employers”.

The Business School has also implemented a new LEADS (Leadership, Ethics, Awareness, Diversity, Society) module, which focusses on developing responsible leaders of ethical, inclusive, and sustainable organisations.

The module comprises a number of classes, case studies, practical exercises and group experiences that cover the fundamentals of decision-making with integrity, as well as diversity within organisations and a broader look at business and society. This culminates at the end of the year with travel to an international location for a unique experiential assessment, which will challenge students to look back on their progress throughout the year and assess what their future as a well-developed leader might look like.

Candidates must also complete the Personalised Learning Journey – a detailed career development curriculum which is an essential element of the programme, and which is complemented by individual support from a dedicated careers consultant, to guide participants’ transformation into leaders who will benefit society.

Joël McConnell, Executive Director of Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions at Imperial College Business School said:  “Candidates for flagship MBA programmes have many options out there, but the recent update of Imperial’s Full-Time MBA provides students with a more flexible experience, in addition to the advantages of studying in a leading STEMB based university, which will help position themselves as highly attractive hires upon graduation.”

The Imperial College Business School Full-Time MBA programme has also recently announced its new scholarships for the 2022 cohort, including a Black Future Leader Scholarship for applicants demonstrating an outstanding track record of leadership and/or leadership potential, who are from a Black or mixed ethnicity background.
