From education to employment

SSC Is Investing In Employee Skills

Investment in employee skills will be the theme of a half-day workshop provided by Asset Skills to be held early next month.

A Sector Skills council, Asset Skills creates workshops to promote awareness and encourage corporate support to improve Numeracy and Literary skills.

Asset Skills representative Michelle Myers emphasized the parallel between work skills and profitability, and employers who invest in training give employees opportunities to function and progress at work as well as in society. “Evidence suggests that at least 5 million people have literacy skills below those required to obtain a good GSCE grade and 15 million people have poor Numeracy skills. This obviously affects productivity and we want to do our best to help improve these figures,” Ms Myers said.

The Skills for Life workshop will be held at the Sunley Management Centre in Northhampton on February 15th. Programme events include an overview of past sector initiatives, training strategy group sessions, and a focus discussion on profitability of small and medium sized enterprise involvement.
