CovFest to offer students pre-college taster experience

Coventry College

School leavers are being given the chance to experience Coventry College (@coventrycollege) before they join later this year through a series of summer taster days.

CovFest is open to all school leavers who have applied for full-time programmes starting in September 2021 and prospective learners who are interested in a course but haven’t yet applied.

The sessions kick off on Tuesday 22nd June and will run throughout June and July at the College’s City Campus and the Alan Higgs Centre which provides top-class sports facilities for learners.

Applicants will be invited to specific CovFest days depending on which programme they have applied for while prospective students can book their place for sessions that catch their eye via the website.

At CovFest learners will be given tours of the campus, be able to meet and speak to their tutors and find out more about the programmes they have applied for, or are thinking of applying for, through engaging taster activities.

Attendees will also be given more information about enrolment this summer to make sure they are prepared before they start.

CovFest is an opportunity to invite school leavers into the campus for the first time this academic year in person as Covid restrictions ease.

Gemma Knott, Vice Principal for Business Growth and Engagement, said:

“We’re delighted to launch our CovFest programme and welcome both applicants and prospective learners to our City Campus.

“Throughout the year we’ve constantly engaged with learners who have applied for programmes but we’re now looking forward to welcoming them in person.

“For those school leavers who haven’t yet applied for our full time programmes, it’s not too late.

“CovFest is an opportunity for them to come and visit us and find out more about the programmes they are interested in and receive help with the application process.”

Information about extra curricular and enrichment activities such as sport, art and music which learners can sign up for will also be available.

Gemma added: “CovFest aims to give learners a taste of college and all the information and guidance they need as they make the transition from school to college. We’ll support them every step of the way.”
