Waltham Forest College is proud to announce the latest intake of its government-funded Entry to Social Care Level 2 Skills Bootcamp, delivered in partnership with the Department for Education, Skills for Life and the Mayor of London. The programme provides high-quality, accessible training for adults looking to enter the Social Care Sector, as well as employers seeking to upskill their workforce.

Demand for skilled social care professionals continues to rise. Research shows that, to meet the needs of the UK’s growing population aged 65 and over, the adult social care workforce will need to expand by 27%, reaching 2.17 million roles by 2040. Waltham Forest College’s Skills Bootcamp directly responds to this need by creating clear pathways into employment and progression within the sector.

The intensive three-week programme runs full-time, Monday to Friday, equipping learners with essential knowledge, practical skills, and an understanding of professional practice in social care settings. New intakes are available in the new year throughout January, February, and March 2026, offering timely opportunities for individuals ready to begin or return to a career in care.

Alongside technical training, students receive support to build confidence and navigate professional working environments. All learners who successfully complete the programme are guaranteed an interview with an employer, providing a direct route into employment within health and social care.

Tamar, a current learner on the Entry to Social Care Level 2 Skills Bootcamp, said:

“I previously worked in health and social care and joined this programme to support my return to the sector. I’m really enjoying the course. It’s thorough, engaging, and has opened my eyes to new pathways in the industry. The teaching has been excellent; I have three teachers, each offering their own expertise, which really helps you find where you fit. Once I complete the course, I plan to rejoin the career in healthcare that I am truly passionate about.”

Another learner, Francis, added:

“I had done some volunteering before, which helped spark my interest in the sector. I joined this course to strengthen my CV and gain more knowledge and experience. I’ve really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to others. English isn’t my first language, but the teaching staff are incredibly kind and supportive to everyone in the class, and that has really helped me grow my confidence.”

Waltham Forest College Principal and CEO, Janet Gardner OBE, said:

“As an anchor institution in the borough, Waltham Forest College is proud to offer programmes that strengthen our community and raise aspirations. This Skills Bootcamp reflects our commitment to inclusive economic growth across London and improving access to rewarding careers in social care for adults from all backgrounds.”
