From education to employment

National Apprenticeship Week initiative helps young people ‘See Things Differently’

The ‘See Things Differently’ campaign is celebrating record levels of social media engagement and web activity following its National Apprenticeship Week initiative ‘The Pitch’.

‘The Pitch’ saw leading employers from across the region pitted against each other as they pitched their business to the young people of Greater Manchester. Siemens, ANS Group, The Co-operative, MAN Diesel and MC2 took on the challenge, with a new video being released each day across the week.

The campaign reached over 13,000 people across social media channels, resulting in record numbers of people visiting The Apprenticeship Hub website during the week.

Deborah Holmwood, Project Lead at Marketing Manchester, said: “The response to the campaign has been fantastic. We’re now working on taking this concept and replicating it across the ten boroughs, so that top local employers can show young people what they’ve got to offer them as a school leaver and beyond.”

Geraldine West, Bolton West Schools Co-ordinator, added: “It’s been great to see the campaign challenging the traditional careers fair idea. By putting employers in the hot seat it showcases the vast array of opportunities in the region for our young people. We’re keen to continue this initiative in our borough so that students can take the lead and grill businesses on the things that really matter.”
