AAT senior leaders named on panel for Legal, financial and accounting T level
AAT Chief Executive Mark Farrar and Head of Qualifications and Product Development Rachel Kellett have been appointed to the panels of industry experts who have been brought onboard by the Department for Education to help develop the Legal, financial and accounting T level route.
T levels were first announced in 2016 as a key method of transforming technical education in the UK. They are intended to simplify vocational training, and aim to equip 16 to 19-year-olds with the technical knowledge and skills they need to enter employment. In October, Education Secretary Justine Greening announced the publication of the government’s T level action plan, with the first subjects available, in education and childcare, construction, and digital, to be introduced in 2020 and the rest available by 2022.
Mark Farrar will sit on the financial panel, which is for occupations such as mortgage adviser, credit controller/collector, and insurance practitioner.
Rachel Kellett is on the accounting panel, which can lead to occupations including assistant accountant, payroll administrator and bookkeeper.
Mark Farrar says: “High-quality technical qualifications are an excellent method of improving social mobility, opening up paths which many young people can access as a route into their chosen career. I hope to use my time on the panel to help guide the development of the qualification, so that it develops in a way that works to the benefit of all students and ensures that they are being taught the skills they need to succeed in a rewarding professional career.”
