From education to employment

University scholarships offered to local students from Kent & East Sussex

University scholarships worth £1,500 for Tunbridge Wells students.

Sixth form students from Tunbridge Wells who are off to university this autumn, are being offered the opportunity to apply for a scholarship worth £1,500 towards their studies.

Tunbridge Wells based company, Red Brick Research, is offering “The Fresh Perspectives Scholarship” for the second year running, aimed at students from the local area, who see life from a fresh perspective, to help support them financially through their university studies.

There are two scholarships up for grabs, each worth £1,500 over the course of a 3 year degree and the company is also offering paid internship opportunities during the summer holiday, to the winning students.

Last year’s applicants really impressed the judging panel and it was really hard to choose the winners, but the awards were finally given to Edward Bowness from The Skinners School studying Political Science and Philosophy at University of Birmingham and James Gardner also from The Skinners School studying International Relations at University of Leeds.

“Both students’ applications demonstrated a genuine lively interest in the world around them, along with an analytical and well-structured response to the questions they were asked,  showing empathy, passion and initiative and we are really proud to support them” said Tim Daplyn, Managing Director of Red Brick Research. “We know how hard it can be as a student these days, making ends meet and getting a foot on the employment ladder, so being able to support students from the local area in this way is really important to us”.

Edward said ‘I was thrilled to receive the Red Brick Fresh Perspectives Scholarship. The extra funds have made student life that bit more comfortable and the internship opportunity in the summer will provide me with invaluable experience which I can take with me into the world of work.’

James Said “The scholarship offered by Red Brick Research was hugely exciting to receive, opening up the opportunity to experience work in a professional environment and a valuable link to a very useful research company. I very much look forward to working with them in the summer and continuing our relationship”

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship students should currently be residing in one of the specified local postal codes and applying to university for entry in 2019. You will need to achieve BBB or above in your A-levels and answer two short questions to apply.
