@bartonpeveril student Jake Meader, and his horse Days of Taunder, has qualified for the @BRC_Official (BRC) Novice Winter Dressage Championships on 27th and 28th March 2021 in Arena UK, Grantham, East Midlands.

The BRC Championships are a series of national competitions, with qualification limited to only the best riders in the country. The Novice Winter Dressage Championships are taking place in Arena UK, home to multiple British Equestrian events each year.

Meader, who will be competing individually and as part of the Solent Riding Club Junior Team, qualified after winning the BRC Area 17 Novice Dressage Qualifier held at Crofton Equestrian Centre on 17th October 2020.

The former Wildern School pupil took first place in the Junior 27 section of the BRC Area 17 Novice Dressage Qualifier by beating 95 other riders from Area 17, which covers the Channel Islands, Isle of Wight, Dorset, and Hampshire. Meader, who is in his first year of college and is on the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), represented Solent Riding Club in the event and will go on to represent the team during the national BRC Championships.

Speaking on Jake Meader’s success, Barton Peveril Teacher of Sport and TASS Dual Careers Coordinator, Alix Christopher, said:

“Well done to Jake on this brilliant achievement! He has had a fantastic start to his time at Barton Peveril and we cannot wait to see how he continues to develop over the next two years.”
