First Short Film Festival in UK Announced at Westminster Kingsway College

The Creative Learning Lab 01zero-one at Westminster Kingsway College is to host the UK’s first film festival focusing on the screening of short films.

Super Shorts 2005 is taking place over a period of four days from the 5th until the 8th of September 2005 and will show films of less than five minutes in length. The festival is intended to inspire both emerging and experienced filmmakers who have submitted their work for screening. The short films are grouped into one “ā€œhour showings classed under the themes of “comedy”, “factual”, “romance”, and “weird and wonderful.”

The event provides an encouraging opportunity for involvement and gaining experience, rewarding promising talent in a tough industry in which it is often difficult to achieve immediate success. Workshops, seminars, talks and master-classes will also be held at the festival, allowing aspiring filmmakers to improve their skills as well as gaining useful advice related to film production and post-production procedures.

Delight at Super Shorts Partnership

The festival is being supported by the UK’s leading online filmmaker network, Talent Circle. Director of 01zero – one Mandy Berry stated that they were “delighted to be working in partnership with Talent Circle”Ā. She went on to indicate that they were hoping to continue working together on such schemes in order to develop networks and resources within the visual arts sector.

Andrew Hai, the founder of Talent Circle, claimed 01zero-one was the ideal venue for the festival precisely because of its status as a learning lab for London’s TV and film community. He declared that its facilities for training courses, talks and showcases “will complement everything the Super Shorts Film Festival has to offer.”Ā

Attendance at this exciting event held in the heart of London, in Soho, is absolutely free of charge and includes free refreshments such as popcorn and beer as well as a selection of goodies available to be taken away at every screening and event.
