From education to employment

Share Your Earth Day Stories with us.

We are on a mission to create a smarter and more sustainable planet

“We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change and the last to be able to do anything about it”.  Barack Obama.

This Friday, 22nd April, is ‘Earth Day’ and we know from the thousands of educators that we support globally in more than 30 countries that there are many inspiring changes people are making, and actions that are being taken, to help to create a more sustainable future for us all.

We are reaching out to you because we want to hear your stories about what your learning community is doing to make a difference.  We will share how you can do that in a moment, but first we wanted to share some resources you might find inspiring and useful.

If you haven’t checked out the Earthday.org website we’d recommend you do so as it has some great resources for educators to use in lesson plans and conversations about the climate emergency. You can also follow the work of the Earthday organisation on social media on Twitter at @Earthday

We would also recommend checking out the @Treeapp on Twitter. It scores top marks on Trustpilot so you can use it with confidence, it’s free and you can plant a tree each day just by spending 30 seconds answering a daily set of three marketing questions. What’s more the questions are interesting so it never feels like a chore and for those 30 seconds you can select a country where a tree is planted. It’s a brilliant way to support the creation of a more sustainable planet.

In our business at C-Learning we have already funded enough trees via @Treeapp in 2022 to offset the carbon footprint of driving around the world ten times in a car and it hasn’t cost us a penny. You can too.

The mission of our business is to create a smarter and more sustainable planet and we’re keen to hear your stories of what your community is doing to make a difference. Here’s how you can do it. Please share your stories and reflections on building a more sustainable world with us directly via email at [email protected] and we’d also like you to share any pictures if you use Twitter and copy us in at @_learning_net and use the hashtag #investinourplanet

We will amplify and share the images and stories that inspire us. It doesn’t have to be something big, in fact we believe it’s a series of small, often tiny actions, that changes the world and creates a better collective future for us all. We’d love to see what your learning communities are doing and equally how they feel about climate change and what they’d like to see happen. If we all share our stories and amplify them we can educate and inspire others to do the same, and little by little we create a more sustainable world.

Finally for those making use of Google technologies there is already a remarkable story to tell. Google has been carbon neutral since 2007 and will be carbon free by 2030. Google is also now in its third decade of climate action and provides the cleanest cloud technology in the industry. In fact just by using cloud technologies your organisation can achieve an 87% reduction in carbon emissions and by making use of a chromebook you achieve an average 46% reduction in energy consumption and associated environmental impact. There is so much more we could share and if you’d like to discuss any of these themes please visit our website at www.c-learning.net

Our New Flex-Up campaign using Chrome Flex, enables you to extend the life of an old PC by a year when you buy a chrome management licence. Chrome OS Flex is a new, free-to-download operating system from Google. Built for schools, it’s fully compatible with Google’s powerful cloud-based management as part of your device strategy which enables you to move the licence to the Chromebook when you upgrade – saving the environment and money.

C-Learning CEO Steven Hope said “As a business that operates through cloud technology we don’t have a physical office base in the traditional sense and we only travel when a specific purpose requires it, offsetting our carbon emissions through a range of initiatives such as the TreeApp and making use of sustainable technologies from Google such as Chrome OS flex and the Google cloud services. We help thousands of clients to operate in a more sustainable way so if you’d like some friendly advice we’d be delighted to help. Get in touch.”

C-Learning Executive Chairman Jamie Smith said “Our mission is to create a smarter and more sustainable planet so the Earth Day movement is a total alignment with our core values and purpose. We know that so many educators are doing amazing work in regard to this agenda and we will amplify those stories that are shared with us so we can all learn from each other. Even a small difference, if enough people do it, can make a big impact”.

For now please remember to read our charter and share your stories with us either via email at [email protected] or on social media such as Twitter, copying in @C-Learning_net and using the hashtag #investinourplanet and we will reshare the best examples of what educators are doing to create a smarter and more sustainable planet.

Yours from a carbon neutral Google cloud,

The C-Learning team.

“We need to build a global citizen fluent in the concept of climate change and inspired by environmental education to act in defence of the planet”.

Earthday.org President Kathleen Rogers.
