Apprentices and employers from across the region have been recognised in the Cambridge Regional College (@CRC_College) Apprenticeship Awards.

Chloe Cutter of St Neots, has been awarded the Overall Apprentice of the Year 2021 Award and St George’s Nursing Home in Royston has been awarded the Overall Apprentice Employer of the Year in the Cambridge Regional College Apprenticeship Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding apprentice achievement, and the exceptional commitment shown by the employers that support them.

Chloe, who also won the Motor Vehicle Apprentice of the Year, said, “Working at Vanquish Motors has given me so much confidence. The journey I have taken since starting my apprenticeship has been amazing, I feel empowered. This award means a lot to me. I feel reassured that I have done everything I need to do to move forward in my career.”

St George’s Nursing Home also won the Care & Health Employer of the Year.

David Ashworth, Nursing Home Manager, St George’s Nursing Home, said, “I have found that apprentices really add value to our business. They are leading by example, positively impacting on the team around them. The staff team are motivated by the work of the apprentices and subsequently, the quality of care provided to our residents has improved. This award provides us with recognition of the support we have been able to give to our apprentices during such a difficult year, and that is the icing on the cake.”

The 2021 Cambridge Regional College Apprenticeship Awards saw eight employer winners and eight apprentice winners from across the eastern region receive an award.

Following a year of intermittent lockdowns, the awards ceremony took place online, with the winners announced in a specially prepared celebratory video delivered by the Principal of Cambridge Regional College, Mark Robertson and Deputy Principal Michelle Dowse.

Michelle Dowse said, “The achievement of both apprentices and employers has been magnificient. They are even more inspiring given everything that they have had to cope with this year. I am proud to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all winners.

“The standard of support from employers across our region has been exceptional, and we felt it only right to give special commendations in addition to the Overall Employer of the Year Award. These special commendations went to Barnwell Barbers for their targeted learning programmes and positive community engagement and Bespak Europe Ltd for their unwavering commitment to staff development.”
