Free summer school launches in Rugeley

The Hart School has been at the heart of Rugeley for several decades, and now, to extend its support to the community, it’s launched a free summer school.

The Summer School, which will be based on a “We Are Rugeley” theme and run from August 2-6, is aimed at supporting the transition of Year 6 pupils and will feature fun, engaging activities, including a trip to Go Ape on Cannock Chase, as well as STEM and arts and craft days.

Pupils will be provided with a hot lunch and refreshments each day and given tips during the week on settling in smoothly in September.

Principal Miss Rachael Sandham, pictured, said:

“Here at The Hart School we place students’ needs at the very core of everything we do.

“We all want the absolute best for all our young people, who need to be empowered to be happy, resilient and develop into the best they can possibly be.

“Due to Covid restrictions, Year 6 children haven’t had as much time in the classroom, or the chance to take part in many enrichment opportunities ordinarily offered by their primaries.

“Our summer school is aimed at addressing these elements and empowering pupils with the skills, confidence and knowledge to support a smooth transition into Year 7.”

She added: “We’ll also provide tips to help settle in smoothly so that new pupils can hit the ground running in September 2021, making a fabulous start to their Hart School career.

“We are excited to be able to launch this summer school to further support the community that we are proud to have been at the heart of for several decades.”

The Hart School, which is located on the edge of Cannock Chase, is rated Good by Ofsted and is part of Creative Education Trust.
