Gower College Swansea becomes first Welsh college certified as a TWI Training Centre

@GowerCollege Swansea is the first college in Wales to be certified as a TWI (The Welding Institute) Training Centre; tutors are now TWI certified to carry out inspection and examination of test pieces and can deliver training for TWI coded welding.

The College is now a proud member of the Certification Scheme for Welder Training Organisations (CSWTO) and have also made an investment in new equipment, putting them at the top of their welding game.

“I am so proud of our TWI accreditation,” says Denise Thomas, Learning Area Manager for Engineering, “It is a testament to the commitment and innovation of our team that we have secured this opportunity, giving learners and employers access to exceptional resources and industry-recognised qualifications.”

The College currently deliver Level 1-3 Welding courses (via City and Guilds), 4265 and Apprenticeships in Welding with an option to pursue a BS4872 upon completion.

A range of coded welding courses are also offered including ASME 1X, EN287 and EN906, tailored to existing skills needs after assessment. Additionally, a CSWIP 3.0 Visual Inspection course is offered both during the daytime and evening, using College facilities.

Gower College Swansea welcomes input from local businesses that employ welders or could benefit from welding skills. We will be hosting an online Learner Forum on Monday 28 June at 6.30pm and an online Employer Forum on Tuesday 29 June at 9am.
