Learners take their first steps into retail careers with PHX Training
A group of dedicated young learners are celebrating success after completing a series of qualifications with vocational training provider PHX Training, helping them build confidence, develop key workplace skills, and move closer to their career goals.
The 12 learners, aged between 19 and 30, enrolled at the PHX Training centre in Blackpool to boost their employability and take their first steps into work. Many faced challenges that had held them back since leaving full time education, but with support from the tutors at PHX, each one made constructive progress.
Through hard work and commitment, they all successfully achieved their Level 1 Customer Service Award, along with a combination of Level 1 and Level 2 Mental Health Awareness qualifications.
These courses provided a mix of practical skills and personal development, designed to help them stand out to employers in the retail and service industries.
To prepare for employment, the group also took part in job search workshops, interview preparation sessions, and one-to-one careers advice and guidance, all focused on helping them build the confidence and motivation to succeed in a competitive job market.
Following their time at PHX, three of the learners impressed recruiters at Tesco and were offered trial placements. One of the learners, Hannah Pearson, has since secured a permanent role at The Range.
Hannah said:
“The support from PHX has been amazing. Before joining, I wasn’t sure how to get started in work, but the courses and workshops really helped me believe in myself. Getting the job at The Range feels like such a big achievement. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come.”
Carol Morgan, tutor at PHX Training, said:
“This group is a brilliant example of what can be achieved through hard work, determination, and the right support. Every learner showed real commitment to improving their skills and confidence, and we’re so proud to see them moving into work. Watching their transformation from nervous to work-ready has been incredibly rewarding.”
