Ofsted’s Matthew Coffey discusses HMI developments

Matthew Coffey, national director of learning and Skills at Ofsted, chats about HMI developments.

He explains how the new HMI developments have been created to provide a better view of what is happening on the ground. The restructure has gone from three to eight regions, each headed up by a regional director to provide a greater focus on what is happening locally. Ofsted is of course a national organisation, but the eight regions enable HMI to forge stronger relationships with colleges and providers.

The local emphasis will be particularly useful in working with organisations that have been identified as needing improvement, because HMI will now be involved in forming relationships to drive further improvement.
