University announces new academic roles to support growing research community

Leeds Trinity University (@LeedsTrinity) invests in new academic roles to support its commitment of high-quality learning and teaching and growing its research and knowledge exchange community.

The University has announced a number of new academic roles ahead of the 2021/22 academic year to support the University’s ambitious plans to be renowned as providing excellent learning and teaching and to be a centre of research and knowledge exchange excellence.

The latest roles will be positioned across Leeds Trinity’s three Schools; the Institute of Childhood and Education (ICE), the School of Communication, Business and Law (SCBL), and the School of Social and Health Sciences (SSHS).

As Leeds Trinity prepares for the 2021/22 academic year, successful applicants will contribute to the University’s areas of strategic focus being developed under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Egbu. This includes providing an excellent student learning experience and prioritising our ambitions for research and knowledge exchange activity by:

  • Enhancing synergies between research, knowledge exchange and taught provision across existing research areas
  • Building a staffing plan to support the development of existing staff at all levels, as well as new appointments, to deliver the strategy
  • Achieving full Research Degree Awarding Powers (RDAP)

Academics will continue to deliver a blended learning and teaching programme, supporting the University’s nurturing and inclusive community. Leeds Trinity is ranked top in Yorkshire for ‘Learning Community’ (National Student Survey 2020) and was recognised as the first university in Yorkshire to receive Advance HE’s Race Equality Charter Bronze award.

The University has also taken the decision to change the title of its three ‘Head of School’ roles to ‘Dean of School’, to reflect the academic leadership of this position, and ensure parity with the sector. These roles will be central to driving Leeds Trinity’s ambition for growth of quality provisions, including undergraduate, postgraduate, foundation and degree apprenticeship programmes.
