FOUR CAREERS FAIRS IN FOUR DAYS DURING NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK 2022 AT WEST LONDON COLLEGE
It’s been all the fun of the fair this week at West London College, careers fairs that is, thanks to our amazing Careers team. We’ve had a fantastic travelling roadshow visiting each of our colleges Monday-Thursday of National Careers Week 7 – 12 March 2022. Around 700 West London College students attended the vibrant and buzzing Careers Fairs throughout the week.
Monday to Thursday saw lunchtime Fairs at our Southall Community, Ealing Green, Park Royal and Hammersmith and Fulham Colleges respectively.
Employers attended each fair relevant to the vocational courses we offer at each of our colleges. A broad range of universities attended too for those planning on progressing to higher education.
Kerri Ryan Student Services Manager, said: “National Careers Week is a huge celebration here at West London College. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to invite our employer, HE and organisation partnerships to the college to meet with our students to discuss their career and progression opportunities. All students here at West London College can access careers education in-line with Gatsby benchmarks. Throughout your course you will work closely with our Careers and Employability Teams who will support you in making informed decisions about your next steps.”
Around 30 employers attended the Careers Fairs in total and you can hear from a selection of them here:
Grims Dyke Hotels- “Students were very keen to learn about our business. It was great to meet so many students from all walks of life on a variety of courses and staff at the College were very supportive “
Camp America- “We enjoyed each event at West London College, and found it very beneficial to reach out to a diverse set of potential applicants. We have found that since the pandemic, and the inability to send as many applicants to the States as we usually would, less young adults know about Camp America at all. So, we have put an emphasis on raising brand awareness, in the hopes that even if they aren’t 18, CA will be on their minds as a potential opportunity for the future.”
Hungry Caterpillars-“The Careers Fair at West London College was a great opportunity to link up with students already studying towards early years qualifications and those who would like to consider it in the future. We hope that we can work with the College to support students in gaining placements and permanent job roles in the sector.”
Mandy Bahra, Head of Construction and Motor Vehicle, said: “These careers fairs are an excellent way to bring employers and universities into our colleges to meet our learners. It backs up what teachers are saying in classes about progression routes and helps dispel any misconceptions or anxieties students may have about their futures.”
