From education to employment

LAST CALL FOR CUBO STUDENT RESIDENCE LIFE STAR AWARDS NOMINATIONS

With just four days to go, CUBO has issued a ‘last call to action’ and a reminder to institutions and private student accommodation providers to put forward their star nominees for the CUBO Residence Life Star Awards – which close at midnight on March 17th, 2022 (Thursday).

The Residence Life Star Awards recognise and celebrate the fantastic work of residence life teams across the UK and Ireland – the professionals and students who create supportive living and learning communities in purpose-built student accommodation.

The Awards are open to both members and non-members of CUBO in higher and further education, as well as providers of private purpose-built student accommodation.  They are set to attract and showcase some of the most exceptional achievements in residence life during the pandemic and as the world learns to live with Covid.

CUBO’s CEO, Jan Capper, expects the quality of nominations for 2022 to be outstanding:

“The last year has been one of the most challenging periods in higher and further education history.  We’ve seen lockdowns two and three with all the issues these posed, and we’ve heard inspirational stories of residence life teams, both staff and students, adapting, innovating and going the extra mile.

“We’re looking forward to sharing the successful entries with the sector, not only to recognise some exceptional performances, but also as examples of best practice from which we can all learn and grow.

The awards comprise six Student Star Awards, and the CUBO & Acuho-I New Residence Life Professional Award for a residence life professional with up to five years’ experience. Student winners receive a trophy and invitation to the CUBO Residence Life Conference, while the winner of the new professional award receives a trophy and funding to attend the Acuho-I conference in the USA.

Winners will be celebrated and presented with their awards at the Awards Dinner on the 3rd May 2022, held at the University of Sheffield during the annual CUBO Residential Life Conference.

Also open for nominations are the newly revamped 2022 CUBO Awards.

With nine categories up for grabs including Campus Experience of the Year and a new award for Creativity in Conferencing, Events and Hospitality, entry is also open to ALL higher and further education institutions in the UK and in Ireland.

Nominations close on 1st April with the short list published in May 2022.  The Annual Awards Dinner and celebration takes place at Lancaster University on 14th July during the CUBO Summer Conference.

Capper concludes:

“Here at CUBO, we are very proud of what commercial and campus services professionals achieved during the pandemic, how they demonstrated and continue to demonstrate their innovation, creativity and adaptability in delivering excellent services to their institutions. We look forward to celebrating, recognising and evidencing best professional practice and student talent across campus life”.

CUBO membership is open to FE colleges.
