Style Excel at Hairdressing and Media Make-up Intercampus Competitions

Imagination, skill and technique were on display at the recent Hairdressing and Hair & Media Make-up Intercampus Competitions held in SERC’s Bangor and Lisburn Campuses recently.

A total look based on the theme ‘The Elements’ was the challenge for the Level 2 diploma in Hair and Media Makeup students, which saw Vienna Butler secure 1st place with a stunning interpretation of fire with model Katie Lee.   Ami Morrow with model Eva Rainey took 2nd place and Dylan Wallace with model Ruby Olivierre took 3rd place. The winning students, all from Bangor Campus, each received a trophy and gifts donated from Denman. 

The competition was judged by Sunita Shaw, Makeup Artist for TV, film and theatre and former SERC hair and media makeup student; Fiona Dennison, Makeup Artist and Manager for Sally Hair and Beauty Lisburn; and Maria Stafford from Denman.

‘Fantasy’ was the theme for the Level 3 Hairdressing intercampus competition, with students tasked to create an overall fantasy look using a variety of creative skills. 

Jenna Van Jarsveld, from Lisburn Campus secured 1st place, 2nd place went to Zara Nickell, Bangor Campus and 3rd place to Courtney Brown, also Bangor Campus. The prize winners each received a trophy and Amazon vouchers.

The judges were Patricia Strong, Hairdresser and Makeup Artist for TV, Film and Theatre and Roisin Meehan, SERC Hairdressing and Barbering Lecturer.

Judges for both competitions commented on the high standard and creativity displayed by all students.
