Matrix Standard Accreditation Given to Filton College

Filton College in Bristol has been awarded the prestigious Matrix Standard award by the Guidance Accreditation Board, the first Further Education college in the region to receive this recognition.

The matrix standard is the leading quality standard for all organisations delivering information, advice and guidance services in any area of work and learning. This award serves to acknowledge the excellent work done by the Student Services team at Filton College, encompassing areas such as Careers Advice, Disability Advice, Dyslexia & Learning Support, Student Accommodation and Welfare and Financial Advice.

These services are a crucial element of the college’s work and are aimed at supporting the current and future students” educational experience. The team leader for the Student Services team, Rosheen Hucker, was justifiably proud of their achievements: “The team have work exceptionally hard to achieve this quality award, and it’s really the rubber stamp that we have strived to achieve.”

An Invaluable Service

Students have been finding the service invaluable, and this positive result was duly noted by the assessors. Rosheen Hucker stated: “The feedback has been amazingly positive from the assessors, complimenting the team on its good practices, including its close working relationships between all the different areas of the team. They also were really impressed by the team being so motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about what we do.”

The Student Services team has set a standard for quality and competence by attaining the Matrix Standard, which is partly due to the dedication of the members of the team at Filton. “We have an exceptionally dedicated team here at the College”, Rosheen explained. “Between the thirty members of staff we have notched up an amazing two hundred years of service! Some members of the team have been here some thirty-five years.”

Political Praise

The Member of Parliament, the Right Hon Stephen Williams MP, welcomed the news of the college’s success. Mr. Williams said: “The Matrix Standard award is a very prestigious mark of quality, which speaks very highly of the support services for students in Filton College. My congratulations go to the staff in the College’s Student Services Team for their achievement, and I wish them the best in continuing their fine work.”
