GCSE English secures further education opportunities

Laleh Pour Sadegh Jegheh trained as a midwife in her home country of Iran, and upon moving to the UK, she dreamed of completing a Master’s degree but needed English Language GCSE to be accepted at university. In pursuit of her dream, Laleh enrolled onto a one-year GCSE English Language course with Cambridge Regional College (@CRC_College) to allow her to continue with her ambitions of studying Public Health.

Laleh said,

“Functional-skills is an easy access course for all adults who want to get a GCSE and I am sure it is an achievable goal for everybody. It is a straightforward route for apprenticeship or access to higher education. At CRC I was taught by enthusiastic and energetic teachers, was met with helpful support staff, and studied in a beautiful, clean and convenient College building with great facilities. The fantastic library, with computers and kind librarians gave me the opportunity to indulge myself with literature.”

In addition to securing the grade needed for her higher education, Laleh is pleased that her functional skills experience improved her language skills and enhanced her English language knowledge, which will support her as she moves forward in the British education system.

Laleh added,

“I would definitely recommend studying functional skills with CRC. I had a wonderful experience with a tutor that taught me the fundamentals of English language which helped me to achieve my goal of securing my English GCSE. On results day, I had butterflies in my stomach waiting to see my grade. I am thrilled that I achieved a Grade 8, meaning I can now apply for my master’s degree.”
