Free interactive arts webinars to meet the training needs of artists in the 21st Century

A series of free interactive webinars is being held by the University of Chester’s (@uochester) Philip Barker Centre for Creative Learning to explore innovative and radical new ways to meet the training needs of artists in the 21st Century.

Radical Ripples will feature 10 speakers from across the UK, USA and Canada exploring and discuss five key issues that they believe are needed to develop and inspire socially engaged, participatory artists ready for today. The webinars aim to be a place where bold ideas are encouraged and discussed.

Who’s here and who’s not: Inclusion, exclusion, diversity and excellence of socially engaged artistic practice will take place on Wednesday January, 26 from 1.15pm to 2.45pm and will be chaired by Debra King from Brighter Sounds, an organisation at the forefront of inclusive practice and artist development.

The hospitality of surrender: Finding agency in collaborative projects on Wednesday, February 2 from 1.15pm to 2.15pm will look at how ownership is a key factor in creating a positive and participatory arts experience. The session will be chaired by Associate Professor Tatiana Chemi of Aalborg University, Denmark.

Professor Paul Johnson, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Chester will chair Professionalising the system: Valuing, supporting and acknowledging participatory artists on Thursday, February 10 from 1.15pm to 2.15pm which will consider self-care, resilience and the sector’s responsibility to support participatory artists.

Shonagh Short, a creative producer for more than 20 years, will discuss how rejection is an often-hidden everyday experience for many artists and how it can help to embrace it in Rejection as a part of artistic process, development and growth on Thursday, February 17 from 1.15pm to 2.15pm.

What is the role of Higher Education in music for health initiatives?on Wednesday, March 2 from 1:15pm to 2:15pm will be chaired by Victoria Hume, Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance and will focus on arts for health and wellbeing research policy and practice.
