Global edtech upGrad in major funding announcement

@upGrad_edu commits £14.5m to the buyout and further investment as Impartus rebranded as ‘upGrad Campus’

upGrad, the online higher education company, has acquired Impartus, a leading video-enabled learning solutions provider.

upGrad has committed more than £14.5m to the buyout and investment in the platform’s growth.

Impartus develops cutting-edge, innovative technology solutions, which include virtual classrooms. The platform has successfully on-boarded 280 HigherEd institutions, 50,000 teachers and 600,000 learners over the space of 7 years.

Now a 100% subsidiary of upGrad, Impartus has been integrated into the edtech’s ecosystem and rebranded as ‘upGrad Campus’. upGrad Campus will target universities and students with its integrated learning tools and world-class content.

With this acquisition, upGrad will be able to strengthen its presence among HigherEd institutions wanting to market their services to the world.

“With upGrad Campus, universities will be empowered to export education and engage with a worldwide student base. Not only will this help to build a positive perception of UK HigherEd on the world stage but will help to attract lucrative international talent that will bring both financial and strategic benefits to institutions across the UK,” said Ronnie Screwvala, Chairman & Co-Founder.

Our M&A strategy is focused on creating a career ecosystem that will build the digital skills we need for the future. Aligned with our vision, upGrad Campus will bolster our presence in the university education space and help UK students to join the workforce as leaders of tomorrow,” added Screwvala.

“The synergy of Impartus and upGrad will pave the way for augmenting college education by helping learners upskill with new-age courses, thus elevating their candidature for better career prospects,” said Amit Mahensaria, CEO – upGrad Campus.

Given the market opportunity, this move will enable upGrad to add 50,000 paid learners in the very first year of the acquisition.
