Barton Peveril Sixth Form College students and staff have been shortlisted for awards in the Eastleigh Sports Awards 2021.

Barton Peveril students and staff were nominated in four different categories: Coach Kate Baxter for Senior Sports Person; the Mixed Hockey Team for Outstanding Achievement; Health and Wellbeing Team in the Health & Wellbeing Award; Teacher of PE, Simon Woodley for Volunteer of the Year.

The Eastleigh Sports Awards 2020 was cancelled due to Coronavirus restrictions and so Sports Awards 2021 will be combined into a bumper two-year celebration to include activities over both years.

The awards ceremony is planned for Monday 9th May 2022 at The Hilton at The Ageas Bowl, Hedge End where shortlisted nominees, nominators, VIPs and sponsors will celebrate the sport and physical activity achievements of two challenging calendar years.

Speaking on the nominations, Barton Peveril Director of Sport, Luke Hampton, said:

“A huge well done to all of the shortlisted students and staff from Barton Peveril. Every nomination was well deserved and a testament to the strength and character of each individual, for work both inside and outside of the College. We cannot wait to celebrate their achievements in the ceremony and look forward to more award-winning sporting achievements over the coming year!”

Barton Peveril Vice Principal (Students and Progress), Nicola Carcone, also commented on the achievement:

“It’s fantastic to see students and staff celebrated in these annual awards, for their work improving the lives of those within our community. Sport is an excellent way to bring individuals together, to support one another, and to help us maintain our strong mental wellbeing; well done to all of the nominees for their positive influence and the huge impact they have each had on others in their College and beyond.”
