Quality Cycle: Intent and Implementation

Welcome to Part 1 of our Quality Cycle series, aimed at leaders and managers within further education & skills providers looking to delve into the key stages of an effective quality assurance cycle.
In this session, we will discuss Intent and Implementation in relation to preparing for an Ofsted inspection. We will clarify the meaning of curriculum intent and explore ways to effectively communicate curriculum content. Additionally, we will examine what is necessary to ensure a broad curriculum that meets the needs of learners and employer expectations. We will also discuss strategies for involving employers in curriculum design and how starting points can be used to link to intent.
Following this session, delegates will have a greater knowledge of:
• Understanding of curriculum intent at both a strategic and local level
• Ensuring intent is fit for purpose
• Effectively demonstrating implementation
• Understanding that success depends on connecting intentions with actions and their impact

Facilitators
Rob Mottram is a current Ofsted Inspector for further education and skills. Additionally to this, he works as a quality improvement consultant providing support and challenge to a range of organisations including further education colleges, Universities, independent training providers, Employer providers and Local authorities. Rob previously worked as National Quality Manager, with extensive experience gained within general further education, work-based learning and welfare to work environments. Rob has substantial working knowledge and application of various quality frameworks and standards, including the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework. With significant experience of Ofsted inspection, including New Provider Monitoring Visits, in a variety of settings including Independent Training Providers, Colleges and Adult and Community Learning, Rob is a specialist in apprenticeships and work-based learning.
