ESMT Berlin launches Global Online MBA Program

ESMT Berlin is launching a global online MBA program, with the first class starting in September 2021. ESMT’s first completely online program is modular and allows students to study at their own pace. Decision-making, analytics, and innovation are at the core of the program. The innovative course design allows students to study at times that fit their schedules, and students may complete the program in 24 months or take up to five years.

Special benefits of the global online MBA program include multiple networking opportunities and the ability to access online lectures and other study materials from anywhere. At the same time, ESMT fosters interaction between participants and faculty, as well as among participants themselves, and places a strong focus on social learning. Once the opening module has been successfully completed, individual program modules may be freely selected and booked in any order, therefore offering a high degree of individualization.

Since all courses are held exclusively online, students are not required to travel or attend class on campus, although all participants are strongly recommended to join the Berlin Experience Week in the middle of the program. All students have the opportunity to take an online elective course with partners from the school’s Global Network for Advanced Management, including Yale School of Management, Oxford Said School of Business, IMD, IE, Fudan University, Lagos Business School, Skolkovo Moscow School of Management, as well as 23 other partner schools.

Tuition for the ESMT Global Online MBA is 25,000 euros. Optional add-ons, such as in-person career consulting and an international learning expedition, may be booked at an additional fee. Participants on the Global Online MBA require at least three years of professional experience.

“If you compare the successful online MBA programs in the U.S. with those in Europe, you realize that the U.S. programs allow for much more flexibility,” says Nick Barniville, associate dean of degree programs and director EdTech Lab at ESMT. “We aim to fill the gap in Europe by creating a fully stackable online MBA program with global options and an opportunity to come to Berlin. Our students can book the individual modules and add-on packages at their convenience. This way, we give participants the chance to put together their very own program in the way that suits them best and charge them only for the program elements they need.”

The ESMT Global Online MBA runs on a customized learning platform called the “Hub”. The platform is at the heart of the Future of Management Alliance (FOME), an alliance of business schools, including Imperial, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, EDHEC, and the University of Melbourne, who share a vision that online learning should have the same transformational impact as the very best face-to-face courses. By tailoring the Hub to the requirement of its online programs, ESMT has been able to redefine, customize, and digitize its degree and executive education program portfolios.
