From education to employment

Financial and Legal Skills Partnership expands virtual work experience programme

An innovate programme to give young people virtual work experience in the financial sector is being backed by the government to expand into legal services.

The one month Get In Get On programme from the Financial and Legal Skills Partnership (FLSP), an employer-led organisation, has so far helped more than 200 young people receive mentoring from companies such as HSBC.

International legal firms including Allen and Overy and Norton Rose Fulbright have signed up for the expanded programme, and FLSP is calling for more firms large and small to commit to its mentoring scheme.

Skills Minister Matthew Hancock said: “I welcome the commitment to helping young people make more of the employability and career management opportunities that are available to them. From e-mentoring, speaking in schools, work placements, work experience and apprenticeships, there’s much that can be made from sustained and robust relationships between schools and employers.”
