Five students achieve medals in competition

West Cheshire College, which has campuses situated in Chester, Ellesmere Port and Capenhurst, beat off strong competition from a host of national finalists to scoop top medals in Music Theatre, Stained Glass and Games Design at the UK Skills Challenge.

Gold medalist, Music Student, Jonathan Howard, hit the right note with judges in Music Theatre for his performance of the title song from West End Musical, “Sunset Boulevard”, while Creative Art student, Janet Watson achieved silver in the Architectural Stained Glass competition and Interactive Games student, Craig Lewis is also celebrating after securing silver in the Games Design category.

College Principal, Sara Mogel, said: “As a specialist vocational College, we have an ongoing commitment to skills competitions and regularly encourage students to participate in them to showcase their skills and demonstrate excellence in their chosen field.”

A further Creative Art student, Collette Galvin (Architectural Stained Glass) and Interactive Games student Josh Allen, (Games Design) achieved bronze medals.

Mogel continued: “The College performed well in the competition last year and we are delighted to have followed this up again this year with five medals. It not only helps put the College on the map, but also helps increase students future job prospects as well.”
