Richard Taunton Sixth Form College Celebrate Another Year of Great #Results

Richard Taunton Sixth Form College are celebrating another year of fantastic results, with a 97% A level pass rate and a significant improvement in high grades.

The majority of A level courses achieved a 100% pass rate with 61% of grades awarded at A* – C grades with top performances and high grades from Languages, Art and Design, Law, Sociology, and the Sciences. The new linear A levels continue to present a tough challenge, the last of the reforms having been examined this year, but students have worked hard to ensure their success. This year’s strong pass rate and the increase in high grades is evidence of this. 

The success story for the class of 2019 doesn’t stop there; students studying vocational qualifications achieved an incredible 99.7% pass rate. Of those students entered for this year’s qualifications 74% achieved the highest possible grades (distinction and distinction*).  Top performing areas include the Sports department, with 100% of their students achieving the top grades possible, closely followed by Performing Arts at 95% and Law at 92%.

Successful Richard Taunton students are off to a wide variety of destinations this year, and with over two thirds of the college’s students having applied for university places, it looks like many of them will be securing their first choice. Many students have secured places at a range of impressive establishments, including Russell Group universities, Music Conservatoires and specialist Performing Arts Schools such as Italia Conti. A number of students have also secured places on competitive apprenticeships with organisations such as IBM and accountancy firm Fiander Tovell.
