University of Birmingham announces on-campus and online courses to boost skills and jobs in technology
The University of Birmingham has expanded its intensive technology Boot Camp courses by giving students the opportunity to choose between online courses or on-campus for the first time, giving more students across the country access to improve their skills and secure jobs in the technology industry.
Since the University launched its popular Boot Camps in 2019, it has welcomed more than 200 students to its 24-week intensive hands-on Coding and Data Analytics courses. The part-time programmes aim to support adult learners and working professionals into digital careers.
With the rising demand for web development and digital skills across all industries, the University of Birmingham Boot Camps are designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need to tap into today’s technological economy. Past alumni have since landed jobs with prestigious brands such as The BBC, HSBC UK, British Telecom, and more.
The courses also aim to help bridge the digital skills gap and the gender imbalance by working with the West Midlands Combined Authority to provide scholarships including ‘Women in Tech’ and ‘Diversity in Tech’.
Professor Nicola Wilkin, Director of Education at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Birmingham, said: “Whether students are new to technology or looking to bolster their skills, our Boot Camps are designed with accessibility and diversity in mind.”
Students will benefit from personalised mentoring and careers support from technology companies, as well as 1-2-1 development from tutors to provide insight on topics such as self-employment, confidence in the workplace and how to boost earning potential.
The next University of Birmingham Data Analytics Boot Camp starts on Tuesday 22nd February, whereas the next Coding Boot Camp will start on Tuesday 29th March.
