From education to employment

AAT assessments expected to remain available during lockdown

Following the announcement of a second national lockdown in England due to the ongoing Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) has issued a statement on how this will impact assessments over the coming weeks.

A spokesperson for AAT said:

“We currently expect AAT assessments to remain available during the new national restrictions that take effect in England from Thursday 5 November. This is in line with current Government advice, which reiterates the importance of education remaining accessible.

“Colleges and assessment venues must continue to adhere to all Covid-19 regulations and guidance in order to ensure the safety of staff and students, and colleges should consider moving to increased levels of online learning where possible.”

During the previous national lockdown, AAT saw a sharp rise in distance learning registrations due to the move to online learning by training providers and students having more time and flexibility to study. Many prospective students were also looking to gain new skills for the future, with over half of people contacting AAT about accounting qualifications saying they had never worked in the finance industry before and one in three looking for a career change into the sector.
