From education to employment

Career Colleges Trust project named as Digital Leader Finalist

A digital project run by the Career Colleges Trust in partnership with Amazon Web Services has been announced as a finalist in the 7th Annual Digital Leaders 100 awards.

Digital Leaders is a nationwide programme to promote effective, long-term digital transformation across government, industry and charities. The independent shortlist recognises 100 people and organisations across the UK who are leading the way in digital transformation in all sectors – chosen from 500 initial entries.

The Career Colleges Trust project has been shortlisted for the Cross Sector Digital Collaboration category. Working in partnership with AWS, the Samaritans and a number of sports organisations, students from four Career Colleges across the country were challenged to develop a digital solution to support the mental and physical wellbeing of young people. This hugely successful project not only helped the students to develop their technical skills, but also gave them experience of working on a real life industry project.

The public can now vote for their preferred winners.

Julia von Klonowski, Digital Director for the Career Colleges Trust, says:

“We are absolutely delighted to have our digital project recognised by such an influential and innovative body. Career Colleges works hard to embed excellent digital practice across our network. The partnership we have established with Amazon Web Services is of huge benefit to the students, the industry and the charities we are working with.

“So many young people are not aware of the many career opportunities on offer within the digital industry. It’s an incredibly exciting place to be right now and we will continue with our work to not only prepare young people for employment within the digital industry but to enthuse and excite them.

“Vote for us today and help our students gain the recognition they deserve for their amazing work. These young people are the future of our digital industry.”

Russell Haworth, Chair of Digital Leaders, said:

“The Digital Leaders 100 list 2019 once again highlights the progress in digitally transforming the UK. Our community of Digital Leaders have shone a light on the many hidden heroes, quietly getting on with the nation’s digital transformation. It is fabulous to see such a strong list from outside London this year reflecting our own inclusive national programme and the growing importance of digital transformation on companies irrespective of size or sector.”

Robin Knowles, CEO of Digital Leaders, commented: “Our 7th Digital Leaders 100 published today reflects much of the fantastic work going on across the UK’s sectors. It’s a celebration of those leading change, but who are not perhaps household names yet.”
