College gears up for National Apprenticeship Week

As National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) approaches, Cambridge Regional College is preparing to celebrate the apprenticeship scheme with current apprentices, future apprentices and the employers that work with the college to provide apprenticeship opportunities.

February 7th – 13th will see the 15th National Apprenticeship Week take place in celebration of apprenticeships, highlighting the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. Apprenticeships enable individuals to acquire valuable practical skills, experience and recognised certification in their chosen sector while providing an opportunity for employers to take control of their workforce development through customised training, building a team with future-ready skills.

Over the course of the week, Cambridge Regional College has a range of activities planned to celebrate apprenticeship success, while supporting the next generation of apprentices and employers looking to recruit the best candidates into their business.

Current apprentices will benefit from masterclasses delivered by industry experts in their field of study, including Head Pastry Chef at Nomad, London, and beauty brand ambassadors. In addition, the apprentice Commis Chef team will lead on a charity bake sale, showcasing their skills, while raising funds for the Trussell Trust, Cambridge City Food Bank.

Based on the NAW 2022 theme of ‘build the future’, the college will reflect on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the knowledge and skills required for a successful career. Student testimonials and ‘Where are They Now’ case studies will demonstrate the positive journey former CRC apprentices have taken since completing their apprenticeship, highlighting the full scope of career potential for prospective apprentices.

To further support those considering an apprenticeship as their next step, the college will host an Apprenticeship Information Evening on Thursday 10th February. The event will include a Question & Answer session with an expert panel, including former apprentice Nicole Stimson and Sky Revolution, who are actively seeking apprentices for their Cambridge based office. Register for this event at www.camre.ac.uk/naw2022.
