College is Pride of Tameside

Tameside College received the ‘large business of year’ award at last night’s prestigious Pride of Tameside Business Awards 2018 (26/10/2018).

Jackie Moores, Principal at Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College, accepted the award on behalf of staff, students and governors at the ceremony held at Dukinfield town hall.

The recognition as large business of the year follows the college’s good rating from Ofsted earlier this year, cementing its position as the leading provider of A-levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships in the borough.

The Pride of Tameside Business Awards promotes the best of the borough’s entrepreneurs, charities, businesses and non-profit organisations with over 20 award categories.

The judges cited the college’s: “Impressive growth around STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects, fantastic investment and growth in the borough for future generations” as a major factor in their decision.

They also highlighted the college’s joint ‘VisionTameside’ estates strategy with Tameside Council and its curriculum as strengths: “This was a pivotal year for the college as they move into new premises and open up new opportunities for local students. Built on financial stability, low staff turnover and greatly improved Ofsted reports, they have adapted their curriculum to serve the local region.”

Jackie Moores, said: “We are delighted to have won the large business of the year award at the Pride of Tameside Business Awards 2018. This award is recognition of the tremendous efforts made by all staff, students and Governors at the college over the past few years. Tameside College is a fantastic college which is here to serve its local community of young people, adults and employers offering courses which include apprenticeships, study programmes, adult courses and higher education up to degree level. We thank the judging panel who supported our application.”
