Esh Group wins prestigious STEM Inspiration Award

STEM Learning is delighted to announce that, Esh Group is the winner of the Inspirational STEM Engagement Project award at the recent prestigious STEM Inspiration Awards.

These awards celebrate individuals and organisations working to inspire young people in STEM subjects across the UK and are organised by STEM Learning – the largest provider of STEM education and careers support to schools, colleges and other groups working with young people across the UK.

This year’s winners are:

Outstanding STEM Ambassador: Kev Stannard, Royal Air Force

Outstanding New STEM Ambassador: Kate McWilliams, EasyJet

Outstanding STEM Technician Award: Sophie Finch, Ryburn Valley High School

STEM Employer – Large Companies: Amey

STEM Employer – SMEs: BeckGreener

The Joan Sjvoll Award for STEM Leadership: Glynis Dean, Royal Air Force

All the above winners are invited to attend an exclusive visit to CERN, Switzerland thanks to the generous support of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (SFTC), the sponsors of this year’s awards. Winners will have the opportunity to see cutting edge science in action, as well as meet top engineers, technicians and physicists from across the facility.

One of the highlights of this year’s awards was the announcement of a Lifetime Achievement Award to John Lowe in recognition of many years as an energetic champion of many STEM organisations – including his work at Ford and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. John’s energy and enthusiasm for engaging young people with the STEM and the STEM Ambassadors programme means that he richly deserves this accolade.
